congratulations

Hello, welcome, and congratulations on your engagement!

You’re about to enter one of the most exciting periods of your lives…. but also a minefield of options and decision-making… there is so much choice out there!

Church, garden or beach? Big bash or intimate gathering?  5 bridesmaids or none at all? DJ, string quartet or Uncle Ed on the accordion??

(As a Libran, I find the choices on offer at Subway stressful, so I sympathise with all that’s ahead of you!)

My advice – make your choices together, look around, ask others, google the heck out of it, start a scrapbook – make sure you get what you really, truly want. A day that you’ll forever look back on with warm fuzzies, happiness, and absolute joy. A day that reflects your personalities, your values, your dreams and also, your budget.

With venues, guests, food, flowers, dresses, and suits to consider it’s easy to overlook the most integral and important part of your wedding day – the marriage ceremony. The moment when you become husband and wife, or wife and wife, or husband and husband – the moment when you make your vows, exchange rings, and pledge to journey on through life as a married couple.

Your ceremony sets the tone for your day.

Be it traditional or free stylin’, together, we can create a magical, memorable and meaningful ceremony.

And I’ll be there for you, every step of the way.

my story

My story began in a small maternity home in Kaiapoi, North Canterbury.

It’s now a rest home, which affords me the serendipitous option of leaving this planet  from the same place I entered… 😉

I grew up in Clarkville, 20 minutes north of Christchurch, and I’ve also lived in Woodend, Sefton, Rangiora and Waikuku. Yes, I’m North Canterbury through and through, and very much a proud Cantab too.

As a Television Journalist I’ve been fortunate to work in some fabulous newsrooms reporting on such programmes as CTV News, One News, Close Up, and Campbell Live.

For almost 30 years I’ve been blending words and pictures into stories – hundreds of them.

I’ve been witness and messenger to moments that have marked our history and shaped our future – the good, the bad and the unbelievable. I’ve travelled widely and met people from all sectors of society, mostly fellow Mainlanders who have kindly entrusted me to tell their stories, their triumphs, their tragedies.

I love to yarn, but also to listen. I’m a keen observer, and an active participant. I’m kind, caring and empathetic. I consider myself a friendly, bubbly person, and I like to make people feel at ease in my company.

I’m married with three children, aged 24, 21 and 16. I’m currently working as a Media Advisor for one of NZ’s largest organisations. Around home, my interests are gardening, reading, and definitely not cooking! I’m a romantic at heart – favourite movie Notting Hill – and a firm believer in love, laughter and happily ever after.

What drew me to celebrancy?  The story-telling, the writing, the buzz of a live performance and the opportunity to work on only happy stories – no more death and disaster – just the good stuff, love stories, the best stories.

And, most importantly,  the chance to meet… you. To work with you and to guide you, as you prepare to publicly declare your love, with your loved ones present.

I look forward to meeting you, and marrying you.

your story

I will take your love story and weave it into your marriage ceremony, delivering a personalised occasion, unique to you.

If the thought of writing your owns vows overwhelms you – don’t panic. I can help you to find the perfect prose.

And if you’re traditional types, that’s perfectly fine too.

There’s no right or wrong wedding service – this is your day, and you get to call the shots. I’ll work for you, and with you.

Pre-ceremony, we can meet as many times as you like, and I’m available to you on phone or email to answer any questions, or even just to calm the nerves.

As a Registered Celebrant and member of the Celebrants Association of New Zealand (CANZ),  I’ll also guide you through the legal requirements of the day, ensuring that the i’s are dotted, the t’s are crossed, and the paperwork is all in order.

I’ll work with your venue hosts and other wedding operators to ensure a smooth and seamless ceremony.

And I’ll dress to blend in with your wedding party, not stand out… 🙂

Most importantly, we’ll have fun along the way,

Let me deliver, your perfect day.
